Eurovision Asia is eleven weeks away and the information ecosystem around it is a mess. Reference pages lag behind announcements, early speculative reporting is still circulating as fact, and basic details like the number of competing countries vary depending on where you look.
This page tracks every discrepancy we can verify. We update it after each national final.
1. How many countries are competing?
Confirmed: eleven.
The commonly cited figure of ten is out of date. Mongolia’s broadcaster MNC joined on 14 August 2026, taking the field to eleven, as reported by Eurovoix.
The confirmed eleven: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam.
Where you will still see ten: the main English Wikipedia article on Eurovision Song Contest Asia carries a participants box last updated in June, and numerous aggregator sites have copied that figure.
2. What is the venue capacity?
Unresolved — reported figures conflict.
The venue is IdeaLive at BRAVO BKK in Bangkok. Beyond that, sources disagree:
- ESCXTRA describes it as holding over 4,000 seated guests.
- Some travel and listings sites give a figure of 7,000.
These may be measuring different things — seated capacity versus total including standing. We have not found an authoritative EBU or Channel 3 figure. Treat any specific number with caution.
3. When is Bangladesh’s national final?
Confirmed: 30 September 2026, per the official schedule.
An earlier date of 23 August circulated on at least one odds site. That date has passed with no Bangladeshi selection taking place. The official national final schedule published by Eurovoix on 4 August lists NTV’s Voice of Bangladesh on 30 September at 21:00 BST.
4. Is the contest being held in Mumbai, with 18 countries?
No. Both figures are obsolete.
In 2025, Bhutan’s broadcaster BBS made statements referencing an 18-country contest, and at one point named Mumbai, India as the host city. Neither survived the formal announcement.
The confirmed position since 31 March 2026: Bangkok, Thailand, at IdeaLive, on 14 November 2026.
These older claims still surface in search results because they were reported in good faith at the time. They were superseded, not corrected — which is why they linger.
5. Does the winner compete at Eurovision 2027?
No. They perform, but do not compete.
Voxovation confirmed in July that the inaugural winner will feature at Eurovision 2027 in Bulgaria without entering the competition. A claim that they would actually compete circulated in late June and was retracted within days.
We have traced the full sequence in our dedicated explainer on the Eurovision 2027 rumour.
6. Is the Philippine selection called “Philippine Selection Night” or “Pili, Pinas!”?
Both — it is one show.
Eurovision press outlets generally use Philippine Selection Night. ABS-CBN’s own branding is Pili, Pinas! Philippine Selection Night. These are not two events. It takes place on 30 August at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.

Why so much is wrong right now
Two reasons. First, this is a first-edition contest, so there is no accumulated reference material to check against — every fact is new. Second, announcements have come in rapid, scattered bursts from eleven separate broadcasters in eleven media environments, several of which do not publish in English.
In this situation, specialist Eurovision press has consistently been faster and more accurate than general reference sources.
