ABS-CBN, the country's largest media company, is running the Philippine selection.
Carmelle wins with "Sobra-Sobra"
Pili, Pinas! Philippine Selection Night aired 30 August, live from the New Frontier Theater in Araneta City, Quezon City, hosted by Vice Ganda, Darren Espanto and Alexa Ilacad. The result was decided by a three-way split: 40% professional jury, 40% Filipino public, 20% Rest of the World.
Carmelle won with "Sobra-Sobra," ahead of SAGA in second with "Broken Beyond Repair" and JM Dela Cerna & Marielle Montellano in third with "Mapadama." Full field, jury panel and result breakdown are in our Philippine Selection Night results.
Where the field came from
Several contestants came up through ABS-CBN's own shows — JMielle and Dy from Your Face Sounds Familiar season 4, and members of the New Gen Divas from ASAP XP.
A second attempt, seventeen years apart
The Philippines was also listed for the abandoned 2009–10 Our Sound attempt at a pan-Asian Eurovision, with GMA as broadcaster running auditions through its variety show SOP Fully Charged. That contest never aired — the full history is in our piece on Eurovision Asia's prehistory.
