Beck Will Sing "Light" for Mongolia — Mongolia's Chosen One 2026 Results
Beck won Mongolia's Chosen One on 10 October with "Light," sung in Mongolian, from a vote between four of his songs. The top three, the songwriters, the jury, how it was decided, and the five-song report we got wrong.
Beck will sing “Light” for Mongolia at the first Eurovision Song Contest Asia. It won Mongolia’s Chosen One on Saturday 10 October 2026, a vote between four songs that Beck performed himself in Ulaanbaatar, and he takes it to Bangkok on Saturday 14 November.
It is the ninth national selection of the season to finish. Only Cambodia’s, on 17 October, is left.
The result
The contest announced a top three:
- “Light”
- “Chamguigeer (Without You)”
- “One of a Kind”
With four songs in the vote, that leaves “Winner” fourth. No points were published, so there is no telling how close it was.
The four songs and who wrote them
| Song | Written and composed by | Result |
|---|---|---|
| “Light” | Narangerel Purevdorj and Tseren Ganbaatar | Winner |
| “Chamguigeer (Without You)” | Otgonbayar Damba, Gankhurel B. and Munkhbaytar Ganbaatar | 2nd |
| “One of a Kind” | Albin Nordqvist, FrankID and Li Ziming | 3rd |
| “Winner” | Temuujin Myagmar and Bilguun T. | 4th |
The credits are as reported by Eurovoix; Eurovision World gives the same two writers for “Light”. Despite its English title, “Light” is sung in Mongolian.
How it was decided
The winner was chosen by 40% professional jury, 40% Mongolian public and 20% Rest of the World — the formula every national final this season has used, which makes nine out of nine. The jury had four members:
- Bayartsetseg Altangerel, actress and producer
- Lkhagva-Ochir Erdene-Ochir, contortionist
- Munkh-Erdene Chulunnbat, musician and yatga player
- Ganbold Chuluun, chairman of the Arts Council of Mongolia
Before the show we marked this split as unconfirmed, because it had been announced in August for what was then going to be an open final, and not restated after the format changed. It turned out not to have changed.
What we got wrong: four songs, not five
Before the show, this page said Beck would perform five songs. We took that from the announcement of his selection on 1 October. He performed four. We have corrected it here, in our piece on Beck’s selection and in our fact-check.
The broadcaster question, again
We follow the 1 October announcement in naming CNBC Mongolia as the broadcaster, and Eurovoix’s report of the result does the same. But the contest’s own upload of Beck’s winning performance credits the footage to MNC — the broadcaster on the official list of eleven countries published in September. Nobody has explained how the two relate, and we’ll update our pages if organisers do. The background is on the Mongolia country page.
Who is Beck?
Beck debuted as a singer in 2007 and has worked across acting, hosting, modelling and producing since. Eurovoix also describes him as an economist and event director, and notes that he presents on CNBC Mongolia, the broadcaster that selected him. More in our piece on Beck’s selection.
Mongolia is the third country this season to pick its artist internally and leave only the song to a vote, after Laos and Vietnam — and the first to switch to that model after announcing an open final. We set out what each model gains and gives up in Three ways to pick a Eurovision Asia entry.
What it means for Mongolia’s chances
A complete entry is what our estimate already assumed, so Mongolia holds at 4% in the 14 October revision of our Eurovision Asia odds. “Light” was chosen five weeks before the final: a week more than Cambodia’s entry will get, and two months less than Bhutan’s.
Where to watch
Beck’s winning performance and the whole show are on the official Eurovision YouTube channel.
