In our contest stories

Lines about Montenegro from our story of each contest. Follow a link for the rest of that night.

  • 2010 What it cost

Four countries dropped out, mainly for lack of money: Andorra, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Montenegro.

  • 2015 What went wrong

The jury votes of Macedonia and Montenegro were left out of the final result under the rules, and those two countries' points were based on their televotes alone.

  • 2020 What was planned

Forty-one countries had entered, with Bulgaria and Ukraine returning and Hungary and Montenegro dropping out.

  • 2022 Turin

    Armenia and Montenegro returned.

  • 2022 Six juries

In the second semi-final, six national juries — those of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania and San Marino — had shown irregular voting patterns.

  • 2023 A smaller field

Bulgaria, Montenegro and North Macedonia stayed away, mainly because of the cost in the middle of an energy crisis.

  • 2025 Who was there

    Montenegro returned after two years.
